Don’t whistle indoors…or you will lose money.
After growing up with this superstition, I can’t stand whistling, even if it is outdoors.
If you sneeze while telling a story, it means you are telling the truth.
This also works if someone else is telling a story and another person in the group sneezes. Basically, if someone sneezes, whatever story is being told at the time is true.
If your ears or cheeks are hot, it means someone is thinking of you.
I always thought this was cute growing up because you never know if it means your crush is thinking of you!
Haha I love the one about the sneezing!
ReplyDeleteAnd the one about your hot ears/cheeks reminds me of the one that goes "if your nipple itches, you're going to get a letter soon." Haha! Can you imaging the life of waiting for letters and thinking this?
I love these! People must be thinking of me a lot because my cheeks get hot very often haha!
ReplyDeleteOh my ears get red alot, now I wonder if it is my crush thinking about me. hahah love that! Thanks for bringing a smile to my face today.
ReplyDeleteAwe these are so fun to read! Love learning different traits and beliefs in other cultures.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked them! It's so fun to share! :)
Deletehahah this is awesome! I sneeze all the time so I must be good at telling truthful stories ;) Superstitions are my favorite things because they're so silly yet I still pay close attention to them! Like, I always wish on 11:11 :)
ReplyDeleteThe ears burning thing is a superstition here too! I just went and read part one too and I love it because I already flush my hair down the toilet, ha! We don't have a garbage can in our bathroom right now, but I did it even before that! Michael always thinks I'm going to clog the toilet. Hahaha! Also, the Russian grandmas making you move because they don't want your eggs to freeze was funny to me.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty funny that a sneeze during the story means that it's true! I wonder if people thought of that during trials! I also like that if your face or ears or hot then somebody is thinking about you! So cute!
ReplyDeleteThese are so true, and embarrassingly enough I never whistle indoors and if I do I automatically feel bad about doing it. Another one that stuck with me is not spinning a hat around on your finger because if you do that and then put it on you'll get a headache.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of superstitions involving headaches! Kinda strange! Haha. :)
DeleteOh man, I need to stop whistling indoors so much! ;)
ReplyDeleteVery interesting! I love learning about different cultural traditions and way of thinking.
ReplyDeleteI love these! I've heard the superstition about the ears before =)
ReplyDeleteGirl these are all ones I believe in too!! I tell Gary about the whistle one all the time! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

ReplyDeleteThese are too cute! I think I may have heard the sneezing one before and the ears or cheeks being hot :)

Deletehaha i have heard the ears one before, i think it's a thing at home as well. gosh, i HATE whistling. drives me bonkers.
ReplyDeleteI love this! It always makes me wonder who decides what something means! The sneezing thing is too funny! And right as I wrote that my coworker sneezed haha!
ReplyDeleteI love this!! I have heard about the ear one but never the other two! The sneezing is funny though!
ReplyDeleteI really like the sneezing one too! :)
Deleteha! These are so funny. It's nice to know that if my ears are hot and I'm sweating like a pig - that someone, somewhere is thinking of me. lolol.
ReplyDeleteThese are so fun . . . the first ones were fascinating too! The cold bench in Russia one definitely makes you go uh . . . are their any warm benches there in winter?!? ;-)
