Five Reasons I Love Fall

Like most of my blogger friends, I am obsessed with all things fall! I can’t help but feel giddy when the season is approaching, even when Texas hasn’t decided to get with the program yet (It’s currently 93 with a “real feel” of 98. That is not OK.) I could make a list of 100 things I love about fall, but for your sake (and mine), I decided to stick to five for this post.

The chill in the air

In The Great Gatsby, Jordan says “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” I know that feeling so well. That first chill in the air feels like a renewal. A new beginning. It’s one of the best feelings in the world.

Fall color

Hi, my name is Olya, and I am obsessed with fall color. We went on a fall color cruise for our fifth wedding anniversary, and everyone called us “the young couple” because we were the youngest there by about 30 years (there was actually a few more people our age, and they sat us all together at dinner). I didn’t care because I got to eat lobster rolls and see these amazing colors at Acadia National Park. Last year, I planned day trips on Christopher’s days off to see fall color. (If you are in the Midwest, I recommend both Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and Starved Rock State Park in Utica, Illinois.) This year, we are going on a road trip in October to the Smoky Mountains and Blue Ridge Mountains. I think fall color is magical, and I hope that never changes.

Apple cider

Here’s where we probably have a difference of opinions. Apple cider is by far my favorite fall drink. Give me a back porch, a good book, and some apple cider to drink, and I’m the happiest girl in the world. I’m not a huge coffee drinker (crazy, I know), so I can’t get behind the pumpkin spice latte. I must admit I do love a white peppermint mocha during the holidays, though.

Clothes

I think fall is the best season for clothes! You get to wear light sweaters, plaid, boots, and cute cardigans without having to cover everything up with a jacket all the time.

Texas State Fair

For me, The Texas State Fair and fall go hand in hand. I love everything about it, especially the crazy food. I’ve been to many fairs and festivals and think nothing else compares. I missed it when we couldn’t go last year, so I am really looking forward to going this year. If you are ever planning a trip to Dallas, try to make it during the state fair!

  1. Definitely the colours! I love dusting off my camera and taking photos of the fall foliage. This fall I can't wait to introduce my daughter to the leaves, pumpkin patch and apple orchard. :)

  2. I'm totally right there with you on every single thing you list here! You are going to LOVE the Blue Ridge area in the fall. It is just stunning. Can't wait to see all your pictures from it! And I get pretty sad this time of year knowing how fall is about to be in full swing in DC and how hot it is here in Texas, so I think it's a fantastic idea to plan an annual fall trip to see fall colors. :)

i like when the weather gets a bit cooler - makes being outside pleasant. i love the heat, but still. it's nice to sit and relax without sweating buckets. it's not fall in texas yet lol but it's probably been fall in KY since like late july ;) according to me anyway.

  5. I love fall as well. Those comfy sweaters, the colorful leaves, cozy fires, tasty pumpkin goodness, and the list goes on. This is the time of year that makes me really miss Ohio--the falls there aren't too shabby.

  10. Fall is taking its' time this year, but I am loving the slightly cooler weather. Let's hope Texas picks up on it soon. I love the nice cool feel in the morning; it's so refreshing. Fall colors are so beautiful. They're probably my favorite. I am glad to hear I am not the only one not interested in the pumpkin spice latte. I am not a coffee drinker.

  11. I love all things fall except I'll commit a total blogger faux paux and say the clothes aren't my favorite. I prefer sundresses, shorts, and sandals. But I do love the crisp air, foliage, and apple cider - YUM! Happy Friday gurlie <#

  15. Every year growing up we would always take a trip up to north Georgia to see "the leaves change colors" in the mountain. I've tried to do that with Freddie since being married, especially since Houston leaves don't change too much ;)

    Yummy to apple cider!

  16. Yes to the cute fall clothes! It's my favorite time of year to get dressed. It's so much easier to be creative with my clothes this time of year. And like Texas, Tennessee needs to get with the program because it's still in the nineties here too!

  21. I love the clothes, football, Souper Sundays, Pumpkin Spice & Halloween. I guess I should have had my wedding anniversary in there too, huh? Tee hee!

  22. I don't like the pumpkin spice craze at all. I *might* get one Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino, and that's it. I do like the Salted Caramel Mocha, or salted caramel anything.

  23. YEEESSSSSS! I love fall way more than any one person should. My alma mater's football games, my birthday, flannels, the gorgeous leaves of the Midwest. Y E S. I'm going to Starved Rock for the first time soon and I couldn't be more excited to see the colors! Also, the Texas State Fair looks really fun. I was supposed to visit Texas for the first time ever last weekend, but my trip ended up getting canceled due to some work stuff, unfortunately. :(
