Five Places I Want to Visit in Asia

Happy Friday, friends! Today, I wanted to fling my wanderlust further and talk about five places I want to visit in Asia. Considering the only country I have been to in Asia is Russia, I could have written a much larger list, but I thought I would go with the highlights for today!

Phuket, Thailand
Is it embarrassing to say the reason I really want to go to Phuket is because of The Bachelor? I knew I wanted to go someday, but seeing it on The Bachelor really put it high on my list. It looks so lush, and the beaches look gorgeous!

Great Wall of China
I have wanted to see the Great Wall of China since I was a little kid, so of course it made the list. I’m not sure I’ll ever go, though, because Chris is “eh” on going to China, and I can’t go without my favorite travel buddy.

Bali, Indonesia
I love the ocean, and the water in Bali looks incredible! I would love to see the Klungkung Palace and hike to a volcano.

Kyoto, Japan
Japan has always been high on my list of places to visit, and as much as I would like to see Tokyo, my first choice is Kyoto. I’d love to see some of the temples and the stunning gardens. Walking through the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove looks absolutely magical.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Since most of the places I picked for this list were for beautiful nature or temples, I had to go with Dubai as my final choice to mix it up a little. I would love to see all that luxury and interesting technology up close. Dubai is constantly changing, which makes it all that more fascinating to me!

Check out some of my other travel lists:

Have you been to Asia? Where would you want to go?

  1. There's not many places I want to go to in Asia, but I do really want to go to Bali, too! Vietnam is also on my list.

  2. i feel bad saying this, but i have no desire to go to a lot of places in Asia. I don't know why? i used to want to go to bali or phuket when i was younger, but only because they were so close and relatively cheap (also it's kind of where everyone goes, if that makes sense. very popular destinations for us!) and now it's just soooooooo far away and if i am travelling that far, i might as well go home instead. hahaha. i have been to dubai's airport, which was interesting. i loved looking out at the city as we were flying away, never seen anything like it. so neat. not green at all (duh) but still. very interesting to look at!

  4. All of these places look so gorgeous and interesting, but I honestly have no desire to go back to Asia. (It kind of breaks my wander-lusting-heart to say that... but it's the truth.) Although Bali and Dubai sound pretty freaking cool.

I've been to Bangalore, India. I regret that I didn't see the Taj Mahal while I was in India, but it was in a different part of the country and travel time was limited. It was a very eye opening experience, though! Downside: Our flight was a little wicked. Ha.

    1. (I never know if bloggers want me to reply to their emails or reply on their blogs :) )

I was in India for four weeks to study abroad. I took a communication class while I was there at Christ University. There were about 16 Americans in the program. We went to school on campus, but we lived off site in apartments. It was about as immersed as you can get... ha.

  5. Oh! Yes to ALL of this!! :) I have yet to make it out of the US/Canada... BUT I hope to visit Taiwan sometime soon because one of my best friends is living there right now. I think if we did we might also visit Hong Kong because it is so close. It's so tough to pick things related to travel, I legitimately want to go EVERYWHERE. HELP! hehe XO - Alexandra

  14. Great list. This is sad, but Phuket came on my radar after the tragic tsunami in 2004. I remember seeing all the before and after pictures and thinking how gorgeous the country seemed.

  15. Oh my goodness, all of these locations sound amazing! And I totally think that it's fine to want to visit a place because you saw it on reality tv. I made Chris watch Real Housewives with me and now he wants to go to Dubai!
