If we were getting coffee, I would tell you we spent last weekend in the country at my in-laws’ house, and it was so refreshing. I loved spending some time with my in-laws and taking some time away from our busy schedule. Skyler loved running around in their huge backyard.
I would definitely mention our trip to Colorado and how excited I am to spend a whole week with Chris (and his parents). After our trip, his schedule will get even more crazy, so I am super thankful for this time year.
I would mention that my brother is having a fantastic time studying in Prague, and I am so glad he got to study abroad. Studying abroad in college is still one of the best things Chris and I have ever done together, and I am so grateful for that time.
I would ask what you have been reading lately. I just finished I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh and even though it started out super slow, I ended up really liking it. I’m currently reading Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult.
If I know that you like sports, I would ask if you think your basketball team is making it to the NCAA Tournament this year. Baylor is really good this year, but they have done a terrible job during March Madness the last two years, so we’ll see!
I would tell you I’m super proud of myself because I haven’t bought any clothes since the beginning of the year. Chris and I are really focused on saving right now, so I’ve been trying to be good! I know it will get harder once the weather gets a bit warmer.
I would also share how nervous I am about what our apartment is going to cost when our lease is up. I really don’t want to move (I have already moved 20 times in my 27 years, and I really like our current location), but we currently live in the hottest market in the country, so the prices have been insane lately. I’m trying not to worry about it until we get our renewal offer in April, but everyone has been asking us our plans, so it’s hard not to keep worrying about it!
I would also tell you how much I am loving my HoneyGlam Ink eyeliner. Since my post about it, I also bought some HoneyGlam Ink lip gloss (which is only $10!) and eye shadow, and both are amazing! Erika and Leanne are offering my readers 10 percent off with the code SiberianAmerican through the end of February if anyone wants to try out cheap, amazing makeup. (This isn't a sponsored blurb-I just really love the makeup!)
Now it's your turn! What's going on in your life?
Ugh, nothing sucks more than receiving that renewal notice and finding out your rent is going to spike. Our apartment downtown was going to go up $600 a month! What?! (I'm still surprised people would even pay that much for it in Richmond...close to what we paid in California?! How is that possible?) I hope you guys get to stay where you are! Moving is such a pain.
ReplyDeleteOh man... I'm kinda dreading the March Madness tournament. B-ball is what everyone breaths around our area... people get so angry & upset about it. I'm going into hiding till the season is over.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your brother is enjoying studying abroad! Not doing it is my one regret from college. And YAY! for not buying any new clothes! My husband and I are really focused on paying off debt so I'm in the same boat!
ReplyDeleteStressing out over living arrangements is the worst :( I hope your lease doesn't change much and you guys can stay put!
ReplyDeleteCurrently I have ~120 pages left of Winter (out of 800... whew!) and I'm getting ready to start The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Lol. Still plugging away with Erin's challenge!
eek! Rent prices always stress me out. Spending time with family and Chris is always best!! I know what you mean, time is very limited sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI hope that everything works out with the rent! Moving is the worst. Colorado will be so much fun. I miss it there.
ReplyDeleteBeing in the country really is the best, and I can imagine how much Skylar loved running around! I always say that Dart loves because of all the smells, that we're there all the time with him, and because he doesn't have to be on a leash! I'm so excited for your Colorado trip too! I can't wait to hear all about it!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your recent trip was nice and relaxing. I always love getting away from the everyday ins and outs. I hope everything works out for you with your apartment. As a landlord we always take our tenants into consideration, if they're good we want them to stick around! As long as our costs are covered and we are making a profit, no need to get greedy. But then again, I don't know what the demand is like in a really hot market and the potential on the other end. I hope it all works out! Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteWe got the dreaded rent increase letter last year. That's the worst. We ended up buying a house, which we were planning to do, but it's still a punch in the gut to see how much it increases! Hoping for the best for you!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I moved SO much growing up that I never thought I'd live in one place. But here I am, living in the same house for nearly SEVEN years now! Which is just super awesome. But naturally now I'm super attached to it because I've never been used to living in just one place, haha! I rather like it. ;) I hope your rent doesn't go up too much! I know that has to be stressful!
ReplyDeleteHow is Great Small Things? I love Jodi Picoult, but I feel hers have been hit and miss in the past few years. Spending time away is good for the soul. I love unplugging every once in awhile. Glad you had a great time with your in-laws!
ReplyDeleteUgh, I feel your pain about having to move. That would definitely be on my mind too until you find out what your options are. How exciting that you're going to Colorado. Colorado is on my list too. I'm so jealous of your brother. Studying abroad in Prague sounds amazing. Not much going on lately. We went and saw 50 shades darker, I thought it was good. We're going to the circus tomorrow night, pretty excited about that.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh that's a whole lot of moving and after our last one I dont want to do it again for a while!! I've been doing good at not buying clothes for winter - but yep spring and summer will be a different story! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteA whole week with Chris in Colorado definitely sounds like something to be excited about considering his busy schedule! Moving 20 times in 27 years is quite impressive but I'm sure very unsettling so I hope you get to stay where you love and live at the moment. Maybe you can negotiate the cost or something?
ReplyDeleteI don't really like sports... but I do live in Basketball country... after all basketball was invented in my city! hehe I don't care too much about it but our KU Jayhawks usually do pretty well. (again, I don't really care! hahaha). Moving is the worst! I hope that you don't have to, but I totally understand. High rent, sometimes any rent is awful and makes it so hard to do other things that you want to do. Hence why we are with my inlaws right now. haha WOW! Good job on the clothes! XO - Alexandra

Ugh. The rental market. I've definitely been hearing about it from my staff for the last 8 months. It's crazy out there! Have you talked to them to see if you could an early lock in rate? I feel like that things slow down a little in the summer (only to pick back up in August), so maybe they would be willing to lock it in early. I don't know though... this market. lol.
ReplyDeleteSo glad things are going well for your brother and that you and Chris are getting away soon!! So good!!
Enjoy every second of your Colorado trip! <3

Baylor always falls apart and ruins my bracket! Always!!
ReplyDeleteyou go girl on not shopping! i haven't bought any clothes/shoes/etc since the end of may last year. i have spent money on other things, but not clothes and such, and it's helped so much with our savings. you should be really proud for sure!
ReplyDeleteugh that sucks about your lease and the not knowing. fingers crossed it doesn't go up too much for you!
